Nova Scotia Health Authority provides health services to Nova Scotians and some specialized services to Maritimers and Atlantic Canadians. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions. The hours of work for this position is, Regular, Part-time (50%) 37.5 hours bi-weekly Responsibilities
Performs general repetitive tasks in maintaining an assigned area, with due consideration for patients, visitors and staff. Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in assigned areas as directed, according to established standards, observing proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques. Participates in On-the-Job Training programs. Seeks clarification of duties when indicated. Offers assistance and/or instruction to co-workers. Extends courtesy and consideration to others in interpersonal relationships. Demonstrates professional manner in work setting. Channels suggestions, concerns, and queries to appropriate authority. Performs duties in a timely and effective manner. Practices responsible cost effectiveness in the use of time, materials and equipment. Observes all hospital and departmental personnel policies with particular reference to patient confidentiality. Practices and promotes safety awareness, observes fire regulations and reports any suspected safety hazards. Participates in and contributes to the departmental quality management program. Supports and participates in departmental continuing education programs. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications
* Grade 12 required
* Knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods that apply to a health care setting is an asset.
* Good communication skills are essential.
* Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position. (Lifting, bending, reaching)

$15.9418 - $16.6057 hourly
